Scammers have sophisticated ways to trick you into giving them information, including bank or personal details, especially during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The government has issued guidance on what to look out for, including:

We’ll never ask you for your bank account details or personal information by text, email or post. If you’re concerned about a message you’ve received, you can visit Action Fraud's website to report a scam online.

Council Tax

You may receive a text message suggesting that you're entitled to a Council Tax rebate. The text invites you to click a link which takes you to a website. This is a scam. If you receive this, you can report it to Action Fraud.
