Festive display grants announced

    Christmas Cheer

    Nineteen local organisations are sharing almost £28,000 to light up the borough this Christmas.

    Swale Borough Council set up the festive display grant scheme to help local organisations provide Christmas displays in towns and villages across the borough of Swale.

    The scheme 19 organisations that will share £27,921.60 in funding for their festive displays this Christmas are:

    • Sittingbourne Christmas Lights Association

    • Queenborough Town Council

    • Iwade Parish Council

    • Balloonatic

    • Faversham Umbrella

    • The Vineyard

    • Sheerness Market Traders Co-operative

    • Lakeview Village Hall

    • Faversham Community Christmas Lights

    • Hartlip Village Hall

    • Sheerness Children & Families

    • Lynsted Fete Committee

    • Sheerness Town Team

    • Upchurch Parish Council

    • Borden Village Fete Committee

    • Eastchurch Parish Council

    • Moat Foundation

    • Sheldwich Village Events Management Company

    • Stalisfield Parish Council

    Cllr Duncan Dewar-Whalley, cabinet member for finance and performance at the council, said:

    “We are delighted to have been able to support 19 organisations within the borough with their Christmas Displays, as we know that local communities take pride in providing these seasonal displays.

    “We have awarded nearly £28,000 - slightly more than we originally planned – to help communities celebrate the season, and encourage visitors and local residents alike to get into the Christmas spirit.”
