The Haunting
Directed by Nicole Mollett and Chris
Reed,
Performed by the Big Fish Theatre
Company.
Duration 60minutes.
‘The Haunting’
performance is in honour of Peter Cushings, the famous
Hammer Horror Actor, who lived in Whitstable. It was created
in collaboration with Big Fish Theatre, who are based on the
Isle of Sheppey. The spirits of Whitstable’s past have
returned to their old haunts. The sound of the fog horn made
by their conductor awakes the dead, and they rise from the
jetty to explore the town. They lurk amongst the alleys and
the groynes these apparitions from a parallel dimension
confront the present with humour and wonder in equal
measure. The performers remain lost and confused, and
eventually return to the sea, when the fog horn beckons them
to return to their rest.
