Leysdown Rose-tinted
the Isle of Sheppey
By Rosa Ainsley

Artist and writer Rosa
Ainley worked in and around Leysdown during the summer
months in 2009 on a project that will identify new ideas and
opportunities for improving the built environment of the town,
to make it a better place to live and visit.
Rosa met and
talked with local people and visitors, and created a
set of practical ideas and ambitious proposals for the future.
Her work is concentrated
on the area from The Spinney down the Promenade to Beach Plaza
and on links to the wider Leysdown area. It will result in a
range of ideas big and small, for now and for later, for
transforming public spaces in Leysdown.
The project will build
upon previous consultations that have taken place, but with the
help of local people and visitors will bring in fresh ideas and
identify new opportunities to bring funding and investment for
the regeneration of Leysdown.
