Future Strategy
Art at the Centre has become a flagship
project for the Borough, delivering an exciting and vibrant
programme of activities and extensive community involvement in
the early stages of the regeneration process. This has been
supported by a Lead Artist and provision of a gallery/event
space, and has informed regeneration practice across the
Council. The new direction for Art at the Centre will build on
this success adding to the cultural vitality of Queenborough &
Rushenden.
Aim 1 – To recognise and capture the
existing qualities and identity of the area.
Aim 2 – To contribute to the development
process and influence design in the public realm.
Aim 3 – To engage the community in the
development process.
Aim 4 – To tell a good news story about
Queenborough & Rushenden.
Between 2009 and 2011, Art at the Centre
will commission a mobile art-space that will travel to key
development sites in Queenborough & Rushenden. The new project
will investigate opportunities for artists’ workspaces/studios
to develop the creative community on the Isle of Sheppey, and
will deliver an exciting programme of public art and related
events. If you are interested in renting a space in the
Queenborough & Rushenden area please contact the Lead Artist.
There are number of ways in which you can
get involved with Art at the Centre:
- Attending or participating in an arts
event
- Assisting in the design or
creation of an artwork
- Joining the stakeholder group
- Volunteering for the organisation
Please contact the Lead Artist for more
information on this or any other part of the Art at the Centre
programme.
