Artlands Milton Creek Commission

Artlands is currently working in partnership with Swale Borough Council and Art at the Centre in order to deliver the Milton Creek Commission scheduled for completion by November 2011. Artlands is delighted to announce that Heather and Ivan Morison have been awarded the commission and will begin work at the end of October 2010.

Heather and Ivan Morison’s performative practice has appropriated activities as diverse as gardening, kite flying, tree fanaticism, anthropology, sky-writing and writing a science fiction novel. Their work responds to their surroundings - they survey, record and collect to re-build and re-present the often familiar, investing their observations and discoveries with vigorous fascination. While the Morisons often examine the extraordinary beauty and detail of the natural world, they also acknowledge the presence of threat. Recently they have begun to probe further the notion of the unknown through an ongoing investigation that sees a mapping of history and the natural environment, coming intriguingly close to alien intent.
